Letting Go, BEing in the Flow – The Law of Disattachment

“Always without desire we must be found,
If its deep mystery we would sound;
But if desire always within us be,
Its outer fringe is all that we shall see.”

Lao-Tzu Tao Te Ching (J. Legge, translator) 1891

Ancient martial arts masters taught the Law of Disattachment. When you hold desire, you restrict the flow of energy. It is as if you are trying to force energy to exhibit or appear a certain way. We often use force to create a “desired” outcome, right? To truly BE in the flow of universal energy is to let go of all desire because desire impedes the flow of universal energy. We need to learn to exist simply in a state of BEing that allows universal energy to move in us and through us and back out to the greater universal field. Then all things move in harmony and synchronicity.

Have you ever thought of somebody only to have them call you the next minute? That is a synchronicity. How did it happen. In that moment, you were both in a state of allowing or simply BEing.

Disattachment is a fundamental teaching of Buddha. He recognized that only when we let go of our inner desires and seek outwardly that which is good for all, thereby including that which is also in our own better interests because we individually are part of the greater ALL, then in that state do we truly reflect enlightment – we are all ONE.

When you create an attachment to something mentally and emotionally, it is like creating a string to a thing that is now attached to you and you have to carry it with you until you can cut the string and let it go. Rather, practice being an observer of all things including your own thoughts and emotions – don’t attach to them, just let them come, observe them and let them leave. You have less strings to cut and less baggage to carry.

Strings can also act like tourniquets on your energy field, cutting off the flow of energy in your body. You might have heard of these as stuck emotions. This is often seen in the field of massage therapy. A massage therapist working on a person might release one of these stuck emotions and for no reason the person will start to cry or laugh.

To understand the deep mysteries, we must first start practicing how to release and let go and get in the flow….BEcome ONE with the universe – that includes everybody and everything (animate and inanimate) around you.

Evolution vs. Development, You Decide…

I would like to pose a question. Are we evolving into spirit beings or are we growing spiritual beings?

In the metaphysical world, I see a lot of references about evolving into spirit beings or evolving into full potential. Let’s stop and think about this for a minute. The natural world around us is the example created for us to look to. There is growth, aging, sleep, and re-growth all around us.

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;”
Rom 1:20

“Verily, in the creation of the heavens and of the earth, and the succession of night and day: and in the ships that speed through the sea with what is useful to man: and in the waters which God sends down from the sky, giving life thereby to the earth after it had, been lifeless, and causing all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon: and in the change of the winds, and the clouds that run their appointed courses between sky and earth: [in all this] there are messages indeed for people who use their reason.”
The Qur’an (Koran), The Cow 2:164

Let’s use a tree as an example. Were you aware that trees have energy meridians and pressure points just like people? Did you know that trees have a central nervous system of sorts and a circulatory system too? Trees shudder in violent weather. When it is going to rain, they turn their leaves bottom side up. The sap and water running throughout the tree is the circulatory system. Trees and plants take raw energy – light – and convert it into usable energy – for people. They convert light to sugar through the process of photosynthesis.

Trees start out as little seeds – just like people. They grow into a sprout, then a shoot, then a sapling, before they reach young maturity. Then as they grow, they become fully mature and then there are the great elders of trees – the ones that have been around many hundreds of years.

In the winter, in colder climates, trees enter a dormant period which can be likened to death in people. It is a sleep period and then the tree is re-awakened. The fact that trees go through this process every year and not at the end of their life cycle (like people) is the only aberration from people in this comparison.

When an oak tree sprouts forth and begins to grow, it doesn’t decide it’s going to evolve into a pine tree and then a birch tree and then an elder tree, etc. It grows into an oak tree. It knows what it is and what it is to become.

People start out as seeds; they are born and become an infant, then a toddler, a child, a teen, a young adult, a middle-aged adult, an elder, sleep and then spirit.

Did you notice there are eight phases of development?

In Indian Numerology, the number 7 is masculine and 8 feminine. (In Biblical Numerology, the number 7 comes from the Hebrew root meaning “complete” or “full” and has been interpreted to mean “spiritual perfection.”) The number 8 also has the masculine qualities of direction and execution. It is Karmic and Mystic. The even number 8 carries out the plan of the odd number 7 (numbers are paired in Indian Numerology); they are complimentary – two halves of a whole. Even numbers are sociable, responsible and emotional.

Do you remember what the 8th developmental phase is? It is Spirit.

Even numbers depend on others for their growth, i.e. all of creation being one, one vast cosmic organism. Even numbers are not initiators (as an odd number would be, yang being the masculine equivalent to odd – yang initiates), even numbers are humanitarian – seeking the welfare of all humanity and also creation. Even numbers are spiritually inclined – Spirit seeking Spirit.

Numbers are a Universal Language. This is why computer programs are written in binary code; it is a universal numerical language.

In Chinese Numerology, the number 8 is equated to sudden good fortune and prosperity. The number 888 is triple good fortune.

The energy of numbers is also significant. The energy of the number 8 holds within it abundance, authority, leadership, cosmic awareness, self-motivation, prosperity and infinity.

I could make an interesting observation here that the year we are in – 2008 – appears to be a year of great spiritual awakening on the planet. It is also in the cusp of changing astrologic eras; we are moving from Pisces into Aquarius. Baby boomers will remember a popular song that was released in 1969 by The 5th Dimension; it was the title song to their fourth album, The Age of Aquarius. (click the link to hear a clip from the song) It is also interesting to note that the spirit dimension is often referred to as the fifth dimension – how aptly appropriate that a musical group called The 5th Dimension created this song.

In Biblical Numerology, the number 10 denotes ordinal perfection. A method called digit summing would add 2+0+0+8 = 10.

In numerology of the Tarot, the number 8 is a number of power, manifestation and accomplishment. Indeed, you will manifest into your full growth, that of spirit when you reach the eighth stage of development.

Again, I would ask you, are you evolving or growing?

You were created by the Creator of ALL things. However you choose to view or name that Source from which you were created, you were still created in that image. That from which you were created is greater than you. The ego (remember that monkey mind?) would have you think that there is nothing greater than you.

“so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
Rom 1:20-21

Bear in mind, if everything is part of creation, you are part of a greater whole – you are like a cell in a greater cosmology of the universe.

Are you evolving into something else? Evolution implies change by adaptation which is sometimes seen in the natural world, but is not the norm.

“Real creativity is an organized process and creative thinking is a skill, to be learned, cultivated, practiced, and applied; not some freak of genetics beyond the reach of most.”
Mike Vance, former Dean of Disney University

I would challenge you to think about how freely and easily “evolve” is used and examine your own beliefs and where they stand. What do you think? Start from a brand new fresh perspective, no past history or influence, and examine every thought. Why do you think as you do? Have you proven it to be so or have you just accepted it because someone said so? I would admonish you to, “Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good.” (1 Thess 5:21)

We were born to be creators – we are from the Creator. Just as you resemble your physical father, so too you resemble your Spirit Father. It’s time to grow into the fullness of your potential. Are you ready?

Lyrics to The Age of Aquarius by The 5th Dimension

The KEY to Unlock All Healing

Thoughts are energy. Thoughts take form. Thoughts become your reality. What are your thoughts and how are they affecting your life?

Are you growing spiritually? Are you growing closer to your Divine Purpose? Or are you stagnant, treading water or moving backward down a path of decay?

The Universal Law of Polarity states that there is growth and decay. You can’t tread water and hold a middle ground. No growth is the same as decay. You can only move forwards or go backwards. Where do you fit in? What do you want for your life?

I’d like to quote from Module 22 of How to Master Abundance and Prosperity…The Ancient Spiritual Keys to Success edited by Carlson Hannel Wattles Mentz, JD, MBA, PhD

“Generally, the various forms of inflammation, paralysis, nervousness and diseased conditions are the manifestation of fear, worry, care, anxiety, jealousy, hatred and similar thought. The life processes are carried on by two distinct methods; first, the taking up and making use of nutritive material necessary for constructing cells; second, breaking down and excreting the waste material.

All life is based upon these constructive and destructive activities, and as food, water and air are the only requisites necessary for the construction of cells, it would seem that the problem of prolonging life indefinitely would not be a very difficult one.

However strange it may seem, it is the second or destructive activity that is, with rare exception, the cause of all disease. The waste material accumulates and saturates the tissues, which causes autointoxication. This may be partial or general. In the first case, the disturbance will be local; in the second place, it will affect the whole system.”

So, you might be asking right about now, what does this have to do with your thoughts. Your thoughts control the constructive and destructive processes in your body. Stress and the rampage of effects made by the release of stress-related hormones fall into destructive activity. The waste aftermath of stress remains in your body until you release it. To heal your body, you need to control your thoughts and learn how to use your thoughts to move the waste materials through and out of your body and then use your thoughts to heal your body.

“You will find that everything which we hold in our consciousness for any length of time becomes impressed upon our subsconsciousness and so becomes a pattern which the creative energy will wave into our life and environment. This is the secret of the wonderful power of prayer….therefore, if we wish a change in conditions, all that is necessary is to change our thought; this will in turn change our mental attitude, which will in turn change our personality, which will in turn change the people, things and conditions, or the experiences with which we meet in life.” (module 21) (emphasis mine)

Your thoughts control everything in your world, in your conscious reality and your subconscious reality and manifestation. You will also come to learn that the thoughts of your mother, father, grandparents and other ancestors actually affect who you are; but you will also come to learn that you have the ability to change those affects wrought upon you by your forefathers, through the power of thought. [I am working on a special report that will give you more insight into this.]

“The problem, then, before us in the healing of disease is to increase the inflow and distribution of vital energy throughout the system, and this can only be done by eliminating thoughts of fear, worry, care, anxiety, jealousy, hatred, and every other destructive thought, which tend to tear down and destroy the nerves and glands which control the excretion and elimination of poisonous and waste matter.” (module 22) (emphasis mine)

I concur with this belief 100%; to heal the body, you have to increase the inflow – the amount flowing into you – and distribution, the flow of energy throughout your body, of vital energy – YOUR VERY LIFE FORCE ENERGY – throughout your entire body. This is done through thought primarily and accompanied by physical movement of Qi or Chakra through your body; but even the movement of Qi through your body is accomplished by Intention – that is thought, focused attention on your vital life energy, moving it through your body. The first and most important step emotionally (spiritually), physically, and mentally, in fact, you could call it the KEY is FORGIVENESS. If you cannot forgive 100%, you are still blocking the full effect of healing.

Hear what great teachers of the past have said about FORGIVENESS…

“Hearken therefore unto the supplications of thy servant…hear thou from thy dwelling place, even from heaven; and when you hearest, forgive…Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men)” 2 Chron 6:21, 30

“Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.” Ps 25:18

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” Ps 32:1

“For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” Ps 86:5

“Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;” Ps 103:3

“To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against him;” Dan 9:9

In forgiveness lies healing, even when you rebel against Source, against your Creator, or against the Universe, mercy and forgiveness are yours to claim. Remember, you come from that very spirit, that very energy, that very life force. You have all the Creator characteristics in you to claim; FORGIVENESS of others, forgiveness of yourself, forgiveness for yourself, is yours to claim as well, and with it comes healing.

One of the most destructive thoughts of man is the act of not forgiving oneself, second to that is not forgiving others. Source will always forgive, all you have to do is ASK to acknowledge to yourself that you are forgiven, because in fact, you are already forgiven.

“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matt 18: 21-22

Forgiveness is unmeasurable.

“Kind speech and forgiveness is better than charity followed by injury; and Allah is Self-sufficient, Forbearing.” The Koran, The Cow 2.263

“Shaitan threatens you with poverty and enjoins you to be niggardly, and Allah promises you forgiveness from Himself and abundance; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing.” The Koran, The Cow 2.268

“The patient, and the truthful, and the obedient, and those who spend (benevolently) and those who ask forgiveness in the morning times.” The Koran, The Family of Imran 3.17

“And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s; He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He pleases; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” The Koran, The Family of Imran 3.129 (emphasis mine)

When you can’t forgive, you are not fulfilling your Divine Purpose. Your Divine Purpose is to grow into the fullness of the Creator, Source, Universal Energy from which you were derived. Just as you grow up to reflect your human father, your purpose is to grow up to reflect your Creator Father. This is the wonderful example of nature that is put before us to ever remind us that we are growing spiritual beings. We are not evolving. We are growing and growth involves change and maturing. Are you ready to step into your Divine Purpose? Embrace the characteristics of Source and make them your own. Forgive just as your Father would forgive, reflect the image from which you come.

Chapter 16 Decay and Renewal of the Tao Te Ching by Peter Merel

“Empty the self completely;
Embrace perfect peace.
The world will rise and move;
Watch it return to rest.
All the flourishing things
Will return to their source.This return is peaceful;
It is the flow of nature,
An eternal decay and renewal.
Accepting this brings enlightenment,
Ignoring this brings misery.

Who accepts nature’s flow becomes all-cherishing;
Being all-cherishing he becomes impartial;
Being impartial he becomes magnanimous;
Being magnanimous he becomes natural;
Being natural he becomes one with the Way;
Being one with the Way he becomes immortal:
Though his body will decay, the Way will not.”

Many belief systems have forgiveness as an integral part of faith and healing.

With Forgiveness comes Peace. When you are Peace, you can connect fully to Source. When you connect fully to Source, you experience healing emotionally, physically and spiritually.

To learn more about Forgiveness and how you can come to forgive others, I recommend Soul to Soul by Gary Zukav.

Begin practicing Forgiveness and begin your journey to whole body healing.

Prayer and The Law of Attraction?

I was going to write about a different topic today, but this one took form while the other didn’t. You might think this a strange topic for someone who coaches stress management but if you keep reading my blog posts, you will begin to see how the mind, body, spirit are all interconnected and all impact each other.

If you have stress – physical stress or emotional stress – you will manifest spiritual stress. You can have spiritual stress too, but most people do not recognize it as stress. I will be getting more into stress topics in the next few weeks, but first I think it important to lay a foundation. Actually, I am going right to the core of the matter. If you can circumvent or short circuit stress in the first place, it is a lot easier to clear the residual that a normal day creates. Having said all that, let’s get to today’s topic… PRAYER!

What is prayer?

Prayer is nothing more than concentrated thought supported by powerful emotion.

I came across the following quote recently, “You will find that everything which we hold in our consciousness for any length of time becomes impressed upon our subconsciousness and so becomes a pattern which the creative energy will wave into our life and environment. This is the secret of the wonderful power of prayer.” – Carlson Haanel Wattles Mentz, JD, MBA, PhD, How to Master Abundance and Prosperity…The Ancient Spiritual Keys to Success

James Ray says in his new book, Harmonic Wealth, “…you form the world with your intention and you hold it together with your attention.”

Prayer is a petition or communication sent out into the Universe. Usually, we pray for something we fervently desire. The Law of Attraction teaches that concentrated thought along with powerful visualization will manifest your desires. Visualization evokes emotion. When you focus on something with intense concentration and powerful emotion, you set in motion an inevitable law of creation.

When you do anything, be it prayer or a task, do it with all of your might – put your heart into it. Focus on it with intensity of mind. Then remember to Let Go and Accept BEing in the Moment and let all that you have created flow to you.

Let’s look at a biblical perspective for a moment. The Bible teaches that we should pray with heartfelt prayer. Why heartfelt? Heartfelt is strong emotion. Where do your strongest emotions come from? When you know something intuitively, you have a gut feeling. The center of your emotional being lies at the Solar Plexus Chakra. Have you ever noticed that when you feel intense negative emotion, you get an upset stomach? Emotional baggage gets stored in your body from this point. The Solar Plexus Chakra is your emotional seat of power. The middle dan tian, solar plexus region, corresponds to the body’s physical center of gravity.

The lower dan tian behind the navel is the seat of creation. Everything you can think, feel or desire comes from the very core of your being. The very center of our physical being houses our spiritual being. It is from here that we connect with universal energy. Energy flowing in through your Chakra centers coalesces in the lower dan tian. The lower dan tian supports our entire physical being.

There is a verse in the Bible that talks about renewing the inward man daily. We can renew our inward man through the exchange of life force energy with Universal energy. The body is a memory bank, a receptical of every experience you have ever had. Through our collective experiences, univeral energy has experiential knowledge. One of the easiest ways to renew your vital life force is through the daily practice of QiGong. There are other things you can do in just a few minutes a day that will help you renew your “inward man” such as meditation (prayer is a form of meditation), breathing exercises, visualizations to name just a few.

This daily renewal process is essential, even vital, to relieving stress and even eliminating it. The physical body will always experience stress on a daily basis, but when you know how to short circuit it from the start and clear the daily residual, you can live a stress free life. You will experience health, vitality, joy and peace.

If something you desire isn’t made manifest immediately or your prayer isn’t answered, then understand that maybe it isn’t the right time or it doesn’t fit into your ultimate purpose. Timing is everything in the creation process; it is part of universal synchronicity. Universal synchronicity is when all things work together for the good of all. Focus on being open and aware of your ultimate purpose; as you do so, you will see all the things you need being brought to you effortlessly.

“People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed; never throw out anyone.”
–Audrey Hepburn

Is there a Mind Monkey in You?

Part III

[Final Installment]

It’s time to GET IN THE FLOW.

In Part I, I talked about the lower dantian and the middle dantian. Were you aware that there is actually a third dantian? It is located at the middle or third eye position, the 6th chakra. It is called the Mind Monkey. Now, picture in your mind for a moment, a monkey. What is a monkey like? What antics does a monkey do?

Mind Monkey is a Buddhist term that means “unsettled, restless, capricious, whimsical, fanciful, inconstant, confused, indecisive, uncontrollabe.”

This is exactly how the mind/brain reacts to the inner guidance of the “intellect” (the spiritual lower dantian and emotional middle dantian). The Mind Monkey takes over and convinces you to ignore your intuition or gut feeling. The Mind Monkey says that you have to listen to reason. The Mind Monkey makes you confused by convincing you not to follow your heart. The Mind Monkey is capricious making you go off on all kinds of tangents.

Haven’t you had enough of the Mind Monkey? Wouldn’t you like to get him off your back and off your mind and get your mind/brain focused on your inner guidance?
You can! It’s not as hard you might think. It takes a little time and a little practice, but you can LET GO and GET IN THE FLOW. Excessive emotion, sadness, anger, anxiety, overjoyousness, and overexcited are unbalanced emotions and create energy blocks in the body. There are simple ways to clear the blocks and put your body back in a state of harmony, in a place of calm where your energy in all centers is harmonized.

I coach my clients to identify their energy blocks and show them how to release those energy blocks. We then work on identifying the main causes of the energy blocks. In six to 12 weeks, you can begin experiencing fun, joy and relaxation again with little effort. You will learn how to recenter yourself into a place of calm where you can experience the emotions of highest vibration – Peace, Joy and Love.

As you LET GO of the Mind Monkey and find your true purpose for being, you will experience inner happiness, peace, a feeling of being connected to the universe.

You will learn how to get your energy moving and keep it moving freely, renewing your inner person daily, staying revitalized through the continuous flow of Universal Energy.

Isn’t it time for you to LET GO and GET IN THE FLOW?

You are a cell in the body of the Creator. The Universe is waiting for you to reconnect.

Monkey in the Mind?

Part II

[This blog post has 3 parts; to find the answer read each post daily. You’ll be surprised!]

After coming to this conclusion that the “intellect” in man actually resides within the very core of our being, I went looking for sources to help validate this. Here is what I found:

I began in Genesis, 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

The breath of life, vital life force, energy, was breathed into man. As man procreates, that energy comes directly from it’s source, the Creator, into the very core of our being.

The margin reference in my bible referred me to topic 2242 Spirit of Man. Here is what I found:

Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

Pr 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. (Eccl 3:21)

Eccl 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

2 Cor 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Here is instruction to renew the inward man. To keep the energy flowing.

There is a passage in the Koran (Quran) that corresponds to Gen 2 and Eccl 12

“We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance…” Quran 23:12-14

[emphasis in the above passages is mine, whether or not you believe in a higher “BEING”, physics tells us that everything is energy and we come from that energy]

Here is what the world of physics and metaphysics tells us:

Quoted from The Hidden Face of God  [emphasis mine]

A single consciousness, an all-encompassing wisdom, pervades the universe. The discoveries of science, those that search the quantum nature of subatomic matter, those that explore the molecular complexity of biology, and those that probe the brain/mind interface, have moved us to the brink of a startling realization: all existence is the expression of this wisdom. In the laboratories we experience it as information first physically articulated as energy and then condensed into the form of matter. Every particle, every being, from atom to human, appears to have within it a level of information, of conscious wisdom.” (prologue, page 1)

“There’s no competition here between the spiritual and the material. The two are complementary, as in the root “to complete.” When we see through the camouflage haze that at times convinces us that only the material exists, when we touch that consciousness, we know it. A joyful rush of emotion sweeps over the entire self. This emotional response – some might call it a religious experience – is reported in every culture, from every period. It tells us that we’ve come home. We’ve discovered the essence of being. Everyone has felt it at some time or other. Perhaps at a brilliant sunrise, in a work of art, the words of a loved one. The physical and the metaphysical have joined.” (prologue, page 2)

When you LET GO and Reconnect Spiritually, when you discover your very essence of being – you have unlocked your purpose for being. When we are on purpose, we are following our heart. We are not focusing on the how, we just know IT IS. We know in our heart that it is right. The physical and the metaphysical (spirit) have joined, they are in alignment.

“The age-old theological view of the universe is that all existence is the manifestation of a transcendent wisdom, with a universal consciousness being its manifestation. If I substitute the word information for wisdom, theology begins to sound like quantum physics.” (prologue, page 2)

“The upsurge of interest in meditation, Eastern religions, and kabala reflects an almost desperate search to rediscover our spiritual roots.” (prologue, page 4)

“To relegate, a priori, those feelings of love and joy and spirituality to some assumed function of our ancestors’ evolutionary drive for survival masks the greatest pleasure in life, the experiential realization of the metaphysical.” (prologue, page 4)

The universe is the physical expression of the metaphysical. All that we know of the putative Creator is found within the physical creation.” (Chapter 1, page 5)

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Is your Mind making a Monkey of You?

Are monkeys playing around with your mind?

[This blog post has 3 parts, to find the answer read each post daily; you’ll be surprised at the end!]

I’d like to start by asking – What is mind? Where is your mind? Is it in your brain? What are memories? Where are memories stored? We used to think that memories were stored in areas of the brain. While the brain controls many functions related to memory, cellular memory challenges that all memories are stored in the brain.

Not long ago, I was listening to Bob Proctor’s 30 minute audio recording on Communication. In the audio, Mr. Proctor stated something along the lines that man believes the “intellect” to be in the mind. He goes on to talk about the gut feeling and how we feel strong emotion in the solar plexus region. The ancient Greeks referred to the solar plexus as the “Heart of Man,” and this is where we get the phrase “heart-to-heart.”

This got me thinking. What if the “intellect” isn’t in the mind/brain at all? What if it is in the very center of our being. The place where we are connected to other people emotionally and where our spiritual center lies.

I began practicing Qigong several months ago. The center of energy (qi or chi) in the body lies in the lower dantian region. This region is located two fingerbreadths behind and three fingerbreadths below the navel. There is also a middle dantian located at the solar plexus responsible for respiration and the health of the internal organs. The solar plexus is also the location of the 13th chakra, or external heart chakra.

This area corresponds to the very beginning of human life, the umbilical area. About seven days after conception, the blastocyst implants on the uterine wall and trophoblast cells start to proliferate. Where implantation occurs is where the umbilicus will form and grow. In the next two weeks, the heart, brain, spinal cord, and gastrointestinal tract begin to form. Then neurogenesis begins. Brain activity and the heart beat appear about the sixth week.

There are four neural crests in the body that also correspond to the main qi centers and meridians in the body. It is interesting that the back and front energy channels correspond to development that occurs in the first two weeks of life.

There are 12 main energy channels and 8 secondary energy channels in the body. The secondary channels act as reservoirs. It is also important to note that the other channels pass extra energy to the front and back channels for storage.

There are many causes of energy blockages and they are better left for another discussion. What is important to know about energy blockages is that energy seeks energy. It desires to flow. The Law of Circulation is constantly in effect. If you dam a stream, the water behind the dam desires to continue to flow. It desires to join with a larger body of water. The energy in man desires to flow as well. It desires to flow into the greater Universal energy field and come back to us.We are energy. Everything that exists is energy. When energy isn’t able to flow through our body, our body tells us, “Hey there, I’ve got a problem. You need to pay attention to me and take care of this.”

Unfortunately, we’ve been taught to ignore our body when it speaks to us. We’re taught to take care of the symptom caused by the energy block, and the lack of energy flow goes unattended. What happens when the water pressure behind a dam becomes so great that the dam bursts? What do you think would happen to you if this occurred inside of you?

Where we connect with a greater energy, a greater force than ourselves, doesn’t occur in the mind/brain. We don’t communicate from the mind. Language is formed in the mind. Thought (communication) is formed from deeper inside of us. From the very center, the core of our being. We think that thought is formed in the brain because we hear thoughts in our head. That’s just the language mechanism working. The brain is like the Grand Central Station of the body. It’s a large switching station. The spirit or energy within us originates all thought and emotion. The signals get sent to the brain where they are translated into what we perceive to be thought. Have you ever listened to your intuition or gut feeling? It guides us through every situation in life. All we have to do is STOP and LISTEN! BE PRESENT IN THE MOMENT.
